2 REHABILITATION DEVICES DELIVERED TO UZHHOROD HOSPITAL WITHIN “RESILIENCE: REGAINED STRENGTH” PROJECT

18.10.2024

In September, as part of the “Resilience: Regained Strength” project aimed at improving medical rehabilitation in Ukraine, we provided the rehabilitation department of Uzhhorod Hospital with modern equipment worth a total of 677,710 UAH.

Specifically, the hospital received a MANUALEX M12 multifunctional table for hand rehabilitation and the Master Dynamic Active Plus LS-180 parapodium.

The MANUALEX M12 is a specialized rehabilitation table used to restore hand mobility. It facilitates various types of therapy, including fine motor skills training, strength recovery, and coordination of limbs.

The Master Dynamic Active Plus LS-180 parapodium provides support and activation for patients with impaired motor function. This device assists in verticalization and walking activation, allowing patients with severe injuries, particularly spinal cord injuries, to relearn how to move, which is critical to their rehabilitation process.

Uzhhorod Hospital provides both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services for patients with various injuries, including fractures of the upper and lower limbs, blast injuries, musculoskeletal injuries, and more. The hospital has an inpatient department with 45 beds and serves 45 to 50 inpatient patients monthly, along with outpatient treatment for 45 to 65 individuals, 10-20% of whom are severe cases.

The equipment we provided is critically important today, as it significantly improves overall recovery rates, work capacity, and physical performance of patients, while also ensuring a higher quality and less painful rehabilitation process.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The “Resilience: Regained Strength” project aims to provide essential support to 7 medical facilities in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, and Vinnytsia regions of Ukraine. These are the regions where patients receive medical and rehabilitation services after sustaining various injuries, including loss of mobility due to shelling and military actions.

As part of the project’s implementation in 2024, 19 units of modern medical and rehabilitation equipment were purchased and delivered, all of which are now operational and in active use. In addition, training has been organized for 38 doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists in ultrasound diagnostics, electromyography, and advanced treatment and rehabilitation methods.

The mission of this project is to restore as many injured Ukrainians as possible to independent living, minimize the social issues caused by the large number of injured individuals, and facilitate their reintegration into society.

The project is being implemented with the support of our partner, GlobalGiving.
